Verner and Drovers Lane Revitalization

Drovers/Verner Lane is a major revitalization project led by The Laneway Project in collaboration with local residents, Ward 13 Councillor’s office, STEPS Public Art, and RainscapeTO. Located between Cabbagetown and Regent Park, this laneway is a well-used pedestrian corridor with enormous potential to bring neighbours together.

About the Project

This revitalization is designed to make the laneway safer, more welcoming, and more reflective of the neighbourhood’s identity. The project combines community engagement, CPTED-informed improvements, public art, storytelling, and greening to create a vibrant, connected public space.

Phase 1: Complete (2025)

Phase 1 focused on initial improvements that set the foundation for deeper transformation. This included early greening, pathway improvements, and beautification to make the space feel safer and more inviting.

This mural was led by STEPS Public Art, and created by artist Chris Perez. The gardens were designed by Golnaz Djamshidi, and implemented by RainscapeTO

Phase 2: Coming in Early 2026

Implementation will begin in early 2026 following the completion of the design process with local residents.
